Spiritual Life at Canterbury Christian School is a High Priority

Canterbury Christian School Spiritual Life is High Priority

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom,” we are clearly taught in the Book of Proverbs (1:7).
Jesus’ earthly life revealed just what this means, and has served as the pattern for the Christian training of children for two thousand years: “
And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man” (St. Luke 2:52).
A godly education today still requires intellectual, physical, spiritual, and social development!
A wonderful summary of this is found in Colossians 2:3 —
“Jesus Christ, in whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.”
Canterbury students are taught to love God and their neighbor – and to follow the principle of the Golden Rule (St. Matthew 7:12) daily: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
The following summary is memorized and recited together regularly in Chapel services:
Four things a man must learn to do

if he would keep his record true:

* to think without confusion clearly
* to hold his honor high and dearly
* to love his fellow-men sincerely
* to trust in Jesus Christ securely

Through emphasis on this spiritual foundation of learning, God has blessed Canterbury with a very pleasant, quiet, kind, and respectful spirit – both in the classroom and on the playground. And for this we give Him humble thanks.
